Mysterious fast radio bursts from deep space “could be aliens”

Astronomers have detected mysterious, ultra-brief repeating energy bursts from deep space for only the second time in history, and some experts suggested they could be evidence of advanced alien life.

If this is what is actually being suggested, then the claimants are not actually scientists. I dislike how so much of what we don’t currently understand is attributed to “aliens”. It’s cognitively lazy. Attributions to an advanced, extra-terrestrial civilization should only be made after it has been confirmed as such. Otherwise, just say “we don’t know what’s causing this phenomenon” and continue the objective research.
