Japan's 7-Eleven bans pornographic magazines in run-up to Olympics

Two major convenience store chains in Japan are to end sales of pornographic magazines before the Rugby World Cup and Tokyo Olympics, citing concerns the material may tarnish the country’s image amid an expected surge in foreign visitors.

"Tarnish the country's image"? People who come to this country generally know that Japan has just as much pr0n as other parts of the western world. What differentiates Japan is how the subject is perceived. The "shame" element seen in Canada and the US is less overt.

If 7-Eleven won't carry these sorts of materials, then I guess there will be more teens going to the other convenience stores instead. S'all good.
