If WebMentions were treated exactly the same as replies, that would require the auto-creation of new accounts, channels, sites, and domains whenever a new author used the protocol … which would undoubtedly create a different set of issues.

As it stands, there has been over a million valid URLs across 550+ sites on 10C for over a year. There have been exactly 5 valid WebMentions received in this time, all of which have been from you. Perhaps I’m overthinking this stuff 🤔
